Ways of infection

It should be noticed that from the moment of the infection, an infected person who is in certain contacts with other people, infects them.

HIV virus is in each bodily fluids of the infected person but in various concentration.

a) Discharges and bodily fluids that can infect by the contact with them (high concentration of the virus):

  • blood
  • sperm
  • discharge of reproductive system ( vaginal fluid)
  • brain – spinal liquid
  • milk of the infected mother

b) Discharges and bodily fluids that can not infect by the contact with them ( low concentration of the virus)

  • tears
  • sweat
  • saliva
  • urine

You can infect with HIV virus

  • by sex without a prevention with an infected person
  • by using needles or tools that were used by an infected person
  • by the contact open wound with infected blood and also when infected blood goes into conjunctiva, mucous membrane or onto injured skin
  • children of seropositive women can be infected during the pregnancy, the birth or during breastfeeding
