Asociación de Personas Participantes Agora

Association of Participants Agora

AGORA is a local non-profit association composed by 1.700 adult people who have not any academic degree. The scope of work is mainly groups at social risk exclusion: young and adult people lacking basic education and qualifications or disadvantaged people for socio-economic reasons, with a special attention to migrants, women or disabled people.

The main objectives of the association are: promoting long life learning activities based on the background knowledge of the participants, taking into account and including the voices of those groups, as well as, fostering and promoting autonomy, liberty, initiative, critical awareness in all the fields and spheres of our present society. In order to serve as instrument of participation and cultural dissemination beyond the formal education, Agora develops educational, training and cultural activities, totally free of charge and open to all the community.

The expertise areas of the association are not only educational (functional and digital literacy and numeracy through dialogic methodologies, introducing ICT and e-learning activities within Adult Basic Education), but social ( promoting participation and active citizenship, and community development).
